NAPA VALLEY REGISTER

Members of Leadership Academy Youth Leaders in Action (LAYLA) will present the results of their Mexican oral history project at the Goodman Library in April.

The project, titled “Las Voces de Los Mexicanos: Napa Valley Oral History Project,” recorded the experiences of the local Mexican immigrant community for the Napa County Historical Society’s collection.

High school teacher Rich Hernandez, in cooperation with the Historical Society, started the project to teach students in the LAYLA program the importance of history. The project is also a joint program of the McPherson Neighborhood Initiative, sponsored by On the Move.

The oral history project will be presented on April 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the Goodman Library, 1219 First St.
